The Adam Hill Story - Condensed
I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness and was baptized when I was seventeen years old. When I reached my early twenties, I decided that I didn't want to be part of the Watchtower Society of Jehovah's Witnesses, after dealing with the elders' "good ol' boys" club.
I disassociated myself and joined the military. My family disowned me and has had very little contact with me since I left. I never really bought into the beliefs, which are taught to the Jehovah's Witnesses by the Watchtower Society overseers and elders. The only reasons that I joined the Watchtower Society are because that was what was expected of me and because it made my parents so proud. I joined out of love for my family and when I decided to leave, all family ties were destroyed by the Watchtower Society.
It's been ten years since I disassociated myself. Although I truly feel free and happy, I do still miss my family.
